The GCC Conference on:
Investments in Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals during the World Financial Crisis

Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdul Hussain Bin Ali Mirza, the Minister of Oil & Gas Affairs and the Chairman of NOGA, the Federation of the GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry in association with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry are organizing the first GCC conference on: 'Investments in Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals during the World Financial Crisis', which will be held at Gulf Hotel, Kingdom of Bahrain during the period from 20th to 21st October 2009. The conference is a call for a shared responsibility to develop a common awareness of the financial challenges facing the World today and especially the investment arena.

The concept of the Conference revolves around the prospects of Oil, Gas and Petrochemical industries from 2010 to 2014; highlighting the potential investment opportunities and the challenges during the same period particularly within GCC region. The conference will also discuss the investment’s environment for the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical sectors in the GCC region. The outcome of the event is expected to develop road map strategy and future plans on how to address investment scenarios for the hydrocarbon and energy sectors beyond the current World Financial Crisis.

The event will be presented and addressed by a group of highly specialized consultants and researchers from the major players in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical industries. Among the key speakers are H.E Mr. Abbas Naqi, OAPEC’s Secretary General, Engineer Abdulkarim Jaffer Al Sayed, the former Chief Executive Officer of BAPCO, Mr. Ahmed Nuruddin, Plants Operation Manager at GPIC, and Mr. Brain Cogan, the Project Director of Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP). Among the corporate participants, reputable banks such as Ithmaar Bank and BNP Paribas and hydrocarbon Investment companies in the region such as Arab Petroleum Investment Corporation (APICORP), Al Khorayef Petroleum Company and Saudi MASADER are also taking part of the conference. Specialized Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals consulting companies like KBC Markets and SRI Consulting will also be involved in this event.
