Bahrain Field Development and Production Meeting

The National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) in collaboration with Tatweer Petroleum Company organized a meeting on March 27 to review future plans for Bahrain Field development. They also held consultation on land use issues, including obstacles at the development sites in the Bahrain Field and their impact on oil and gas production.

Engineer Jassim Isa Al Shirawi, the General Manager of Oil and Gas Affairs at NOGA, in his introductory speech, talked about the commitment of the NOGA to the joint development and production sharing deal it had with Occidental (OXY) and Mubadala Development Company in 2009. He said the project was on track and the company was committed to develop the oil field with all its partners, Occidental, Mubadala and nogaholding company. He said that the objective of the contract was to use the latest technology to enhance the production of oil and gas from the Bahrain Field, mainly in the interest of the development of the Kingdom and its economy. Engineer Al Shirawi also discussed important challenges in implementing production enhancement programs: availability of drilling sites and the big task of finding a balance between urban development and production from the Bahrain Field. He emphasized the importance of public safety, especially in the camping areas.

This was followed by a detailed presentation by Tatweer, made by Mr. Hisham Zubari, Executive Vice President of the company and Mr. Barry Sadler, Director of Land Development. They explained the key challenges faced in the development of the Bahrain Field.
