Minister of Energy His Excellency Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza met Russian Special Presidential Representative for Cooperation with Gas Exporting Countries Forum and Chairman of the Gazprom, Mr. Viktor Zubkov and the accompanying delegation, currently on a visit to Bahrain to participate in the first ‘Russia-GCC Trade and Industrial Dialogue’, which opened on Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Manama. The meeting took place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Sunday, December 14.

The Minister welcomed the Presidential representative and the Russian delegation and wished them a pleasant stay in Bahrain. The Minister lauded the bilateral cooperation, and said he was looking forward to stronger relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of the Russian Federation, leading to the progress and prosperity of the two countries.

They discussed several oil sector matters and prospective areas of cooperation between the two countries, including gas and energy investments, and topics of interest to Bahrain such as gaining from the expertise of Russian oil, gas and energy sector companies. They also discussed ways to promote delegation visits that would contribute to increasing cooperation as well as sharing of expertise and modern technology by oil companies on both sides. They also talked about increased participation of energy professionals from both countries in energy events held in Bahrain and Russia.

The Russian representative expressed his gratitude and appreciation to H.E. Dr. Mirza for the warm reception and his sincere fraternal feelings, which were evident from his enthusiasm and eagerness to promote and develop bilateral relations between Russia and Bahrain. He said the meaningful discussions on important oil, gas and energy sector issues would have a significant impact on strengthening bilateral relations and promoting knowledge sharing between the two countries.
