First Workover Rig Arrives for Tatweer Petroleum
HE Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza visited Tatweer Petroleum Company work site at Jeble al-Dukhan office today Wednesday May, 26 to inaugurate the introduction of the first workover rig which was received for Tatweer Petroleum.
He was met by the Chief Executive Dr. Ed Hanley, Mr. Adel Almoayyed DCE, Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulrahim GM-Production, Mr. Jim Briscoe GM-Field Development in addition to other Tatweer Petroleum employees.
During the visit, Tatweer Petroleum representatives explained to Dr. Mirza the features of the new workover rig and the scope of work planned for using this equipment.
Tatweer Petroleum received the first service rig out of two contracted from MB Petroleum to carry out repair and maintenance of existing wells and complete new wells. The rig is self propelled and can be moved and rigged up quickly on well locations. The rig has an added safety feature that detects abnormal loads or operational activities and can shutdown automatically if these are exceeded. The second service rig is identical and is expected to be received in the first week of June. Both rigs are new built and are capable of working over all types of wells in the Bahrain field, except the deep Khuff gas well, which require a much bigger rig.
Tatweer Petroleum is planning to workover 150 wells in 2010. To achieve that, highly efficient rigs with fast mobility feature were selected. More than 60% of the planned workovers in 2010 will be conversion to beam pumping. The objective of these workovers is to reduce the associated lift gas and improve oil production. The two contracted rigs will be able to complete the anticipated workover and completion activities in a record time due to high rigs mobility and faster rig equipment move.
