Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Achievements in Relation to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
In continuation of the efforts made by the Kingdom of Bahrain, both locally and internationally, within the framework of its full commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and their integration into the Government’s work programme, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs aims to achieve the objectives that fall within its role and responsibilities, which include:

Ensuring women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.
Ministry Accomplishments:
- Formation of the Equal Opportunity Commission (EOC) in the Ministry
The Commission is responsible for establishing controls, standards, and plans related to the application of the principles of equal opportunities and ensuring the full integration of women’s needs within the framework of equal opportunities. It also follows up on their implementation and provides consultations in coordination with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), if required, according to its powers stipulated in the Civil Service Law and Regulations, in the following areas:
- Promoting equal opportunities among the Ministry’s employees in terms of recruitment, training, secondment, and career advancement, and ensuring the mainstreaming of working women’s needs.
- Integrating women’s needs within the framework of equal opportunities in the Ministry’s policies, plans, and budget.
- Building the capacity of the Ministry’s employees in the field of integrating women’s needs within the framework of equal opportunities.
- Improving the status of women and their work environment within the Ministry and overcoming obstacles and challenges facing the implementation of the principle of equal opportunities in the Ministry.
- Supporting the efforts of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and promoting and disseminating its initiatives in the field of equal opportunities and integrating women’s needs within the framework of equality in the programme of Government entities in accordance with the approved National Plan for the advancement of Bahraini women.
- Achieving the principle of equal opportunities for all beneficiaries of the services provided by the Ministry.
- Women occupy 50% of the senior positions within the Ministry.
