Role of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in Relation to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
In continuation of the efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain, both locally and internationally, within the framework of its full commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and their linkage to the Government Programme, the Ministry has, within the scope of its mandate, undertaken the following:

Target:
Ensuring the full and effective participation of women and their equal opportunities with men to hold leadership positions at all levels of decision-making.
Role of the Ministry:
- Establishment of the Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry.
The Committee is responsible for developing controls, standards and plans relating to the application of the principles of equal opportunities; achieving the full integration of women’s needs within the equal opportunities framework; following up on their implementation; and providing consultations in coordination with the Supreme Council for Women and the Civil Service Bureau, where required, in accordance with the competences prescribed in the Civil Service Law and Regulations, in the following areas:
- Promoting equal opportunities among Ministry employees in appointment, training, scholarships and career advancement, and ensuring that the needs of working women are taken into account.
- Integrating women’s needs within the equal opportunities framework into the Ministry’s policies, plans and budget.
- Building the capacities of Ministry employees in the area of integrating women’s needs within the equal opportunities framework.
- Improving the status of women and their working environment at the Ministry, and overcoming obstacles and difficulties that impede the implementation of the principle of equal opportunities at the Ministry.
- Supporting the efforts of the Supreme Council for Women, activating and disseminating those efforts in the area of the principle of equal opportunities, and integrating women’s needs within the equal opportunities framework into the programmes of government entities, in accordance with the approved National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.
- Achieving the principle of equal opportunities for all beneficiaries of the services provided by the Ministry.
- Women hold 50% of senior positions at the Ministry.
