Law No. (7) of 2022 concerning the Environment
The law regulates the powers of the Supreme Council for the Environment in the field of environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable development in the Kingdom. It also establishes the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Development and defines its functions and financial resources. Furthermore, the law regulates environmental impact assessment, the management of environmental disasters and emergencies, the protection of the aquatic, air, and terrestrial environments from pollution, the management of chemicals and ionizing and non-ionizing radioactive materials and sources, the management of hazardous substances and waste, and the protection of biodiversity. It also sets out the measures to be taken in respect of environmental violations and compensation for the damage arising therefrom.
